SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 12, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:UBNT), a next-generation communications technology company, today announced the release of EdgeMAX, a price/performance disruptive software and systems routing platform.
The introduction of EdgeMAX technology marks a major company milestone -- offering what the company believes to be the world's first sub-$100 routers capable of over 1 million packets-per-second processing performance.
In addition to leading-edge hardware performance, EdgeMAX is powered by Ubiquiti's full-featured EdgeOS™ operating system. EdgeOS includes advanced QoS, firewall, dynamic routing and VPN functionality. The EdgeOS UI presents an incredibly simple and sleek user experience, which empowers novice technicians to quickly become advanced administrators in setting up routing infrastructure.
EdgeMAX is a natural complement to Ubiquiti's growing airMAX™ and UniFi™ wireless platforms. It presents a disruptive price/performance routing solution for small and medium business markets on a global scale.
In an independent study by The Tolly Group, EdgeMAX (EdgeRouter™ Lite) was found to have better than a 500x price/performance over the popular Cisco 3925 Router and better than a 200x price/performance over the Juniper J6350.
"We are excited to announce EdgeMAX as our sixth technology platform at Ubiquiti Networks. Although we are largely known today for our success in wireless, we look forward to having similar success in the routing world with EdgeMAX. We do not believe the routing world has seen price/performance disruption quite like this before," said Robert J. Pera, CEO at Ubiquiti Networks.
EdgeMAX (EdgeRouter Lite) will be available for shipping in calendar Q4 of this year at an MSRP of $99.
